5. Registration and Authorization
To start using your Toontrack product you will need to authorize it. The first time you access the plugin from within your host program you will be presented with the authorization screen. Simply follow the on-screen instructions.
Here is an overview of the online process to assist you:
1) Should this be your first Toontrack product, create a new user account at http://www.toontrack.com and follow the procedure outlined there.
2) Go to http://www.toontrack.com/register/ and log into your account. Click "Register New Product".
3) Enter the product serial number found on the packaging of the physical product or included with your electronic receipt if this is a downloadable complimentary product.
4) Type in the Computer ID exactly as shown in the program's graphical interface when requested to do so and add a short description for your own convenience (this can be anything you want, for example "Mike's laptop" or "Studio B computer").
5) Complete the process to obtain the authorization code. You will receive a confirmation by email with all the relevant details for your records. Type in the code or paste it in the box shown in green in the authorization window.
6) You will be greeted with a congratulations message to confirm the product has been authorized successfully.
NOTE! YOU MUST ENTER THE INDIVIDUAL SERIAL NUMBER PROVIDED WITH YOUR EZDRUMMER LITE ONLINE TO BE ABLE TO AUTHORIZE THE PRODUCT. DO NOT ENTER THE SERIAL NUMBER DIRECTLY IN THE PROGRAM INTERFACE, YOU MUST GENERATE AN AUTHORIZATION CODE ONLINE! SEE FAQ BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Please contact authorization@toontrack.com with your Computer ID and serial number if the authorization process fails for whatever reason.
6. Frequently Asked Questions
- Where can I find my Computer ID?
The Computer ID is generated by the program on first launch. It will be displayed as a combination of letters and numbers in the authorization screen. Please insert EZdrummer on a track as per instructions found in your sequencer application's manual.
From here on simply follow the instructions and access the Toontrack servers to generate a response code based on your Computer ID and serial number. Note that you will also be asked to key in a description for the code, the purpose of which being for you to identify which system a particular code relates to at a later date.
- Does my computer need to be on the Internet?
You do not need a live connection to authorize EZdrummer. You do however require a way to access the registration site to generate the response code, so it can then be typed in the appropriate box in the program interface.
To authorize EZdrummer on an Internet free workstation:
1) Start up EZdrummer in the configuration intended (network down) and write down the Computer ID
2) Next connect to the Toontrack server at http://www.toontrack.com from any machine connected to the Internet and generate the response code using the Computer ID recorded at step 1
3) Finally type in the response code back into EZdrummer on the workstation it is intended for, and corresponding to the Computer ID authorized in step 2, after disconnecting from the Internet if using the same workstation to access the Toontrack servers and intended to be used in that configuration.
- My Computer is crashing when I try to authorize EZdrummer
If you experience issues on attempting to authorize EZdrummer, please make sure you update to the latest version and try again. You can find the latest update at http://www.toontrack.com/support/ (account and product registration required).
Should you still be unable to authorize EZdrummer successfully from within your usual host program, please download the latest version of Toontrack solo from http://www.toontrack.com/download/
If this still provides no solution please contact support, including your complete system specifications, Computer ID and serial number.
- Authorization code rejection
For EZdrummer to be able to validate the code properly it is essential that your host does not capture keystrokes on input. Many sequencers include a way to pass shortcuts onto plugins and will stop interfering when specifically set up to do so. Please refer to your sequencer's manual for details.
If you cannot overrule the host behavior you should try authorizing with an alternative host such as Toontrack solo available from http://www.toontrack.com/download/. Validating a Computer ID with this host will automatically allow use in all applications on the same machine.
Note that EZX-s require similar activation and although the Computer ID will be identical they do require generation of a specific code as per authorization procedure described in the manual.
